Indian Airlines official arrested by CBI for taking bribe

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Traffic Superintendent (Cargo) of Indian Airlines for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a cargo handling agent.

The agent in his complaint to the CBI alleged that the officer had demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe for allowing forwarding of cargo through morning flight of Indian Airlines to Delhi, Kolkata and other destinations.

The complainant alleged that the accused was collecting part of the tariff difference between freight of Indian Airlines and other Airlines as bribe from the cargo forwarders.

The CBI laid a trap and the officer was arrested red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant, in his office at Cargo Division, International Airport, Bangalore.

Search at the residential premises of the accused led to the seizure of certain incriminating documents.

A case was registered against the officer under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
