Dharamshala, Oct 12 (UNI) A 44-year-old shopkeeper of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh has approached the State Women Commission, alleging that the police have not shown any eagerness in tracing his missing wife.

Bhagwan Dass, a shopkeeper in Pragpur village of the district in his letter to the Commission, said his 37-year old wife Rama Devi was missing since October 21, 2006 morning after she left for home after leaving his breakfast at the shop.

Dass said he lodged a case of missing person with the Jawalamukhi Police Station on October 22, last year, but had not heard from them since then.

He also said on July 13, this year, a 20-year-old girl Saroj, a resident of Lagbadna village, in presence of three Mahila Mandal members disclosed that another woman of the village had made her a drug addict by supplying her drugs and egged her to flee the village.

However, the police never questioned the girl about the disclosures made by her during the period, he alleged.

Dass said he wrote to the state DGP and other senior police and administrative officials, but to no avail.

When he contacted Dehra DSP Sita Ram, the latter accepted that the woman had not been questioned in this case.
