Haryana signs MoU with US-based Montgomery College

Chandigarh, Oct 12 (UNI) Haryana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US-based Montgomery College to adopt its best practices.

As per the MoU, this will be done through the provision of professional development, curriculum sharing, strategic planning, budgeting, institutional advancement, faculty and student exchange and articulation with the Universities of Haryana, an official press release here today said.

Montgomery College would seek supplemental funding support from the US government agencies and Indian and American Business.

The MoU has been initiated as a response by Montgomery College to a request from the Haryana government for assistance in workforce creation and development, which is the cornerstone of the partnership that would also be extended to undergraduate and graduate studies with a particular focus on the Industries prevalent in Haryana.

The Haryana government and the Montgomery college will develop new curricula for the Government Polytechnic in Manesar or adopt existing Montgomery college undergraduate curricula that are aligned to Indian students' career or transfer goals, the release said.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in whose presence the MoU was signed, said a community college model would be replicated in the Government Polytechnic at Manesar, Gurgaon as a pilot project.

The agreement, he said, would help in creation and development of the technical work force at undergraduate and graduate level.

This model would be replicated in Polytechnic colleges of the state in due course.
