Goa Governor, CM extend Id-ul-Fitr greetings
Panaji, Oct 12 (UNI) Goa Governor S C Jamir and Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today extended warm greetings to people of Goa, espcially Muslim brethren, on the occasion of 'Id-ul-Fitr' festival.
Mr Jamir, in his message, said Prophet Mohammed enlightened on the immortal and inspirational ideals of love, peace, brotherhood, compassion and tolerance. These invaluable qualities, fundamental as they are to human survival and progress, bestow warmth and colour to life's fabric, it richness, fullness and diversity.
''May the celebration of Id-ul-Fitr this year herald a new and vibrant era of greater peace, love, harmony, brotherhood and prosperity in our collective lives,'' he said.
Mr Kamt, in his message, said Prophet Mohammed preached the ideals of love, peace and brotherhood, which are relevant even today in the back drop of violence that occurs in various parts of the country and the world.
''Let us, on this occasion, pledge to maintain unity among ourselves and work for the progress of state and the country,'' he said.
