Global economic downturn not to endanger India: PM

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said ''there is no great danger that the risks (arising from a possible global downturn) will overwhelm and endanger our economy.'' India certainly faced medium-terms risks as its economy was integrated into the global trend. ''What happens in the rest of the word affects India,'' Dr Singh said replying to a question posed by former Planning Commission Member N K Singh at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

But these were acceptable as the country's foreign trade was booming and the capital flow from outside had become part of the investment, he said.

There was no doubt that when the global economy ''goes down to a lower gear, there are risks for our economy.'' UNI
