Eid-ul-Fitr in J&K on Sunday
Srinagar, Oct 12 (UNI) Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the Islamic fasting month of Ramzan, will be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
The official Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Bashiruddin Ahmed, announced that the moon of Shawal was not sighted in any part of the state.
As such, the Eid-ul-fitr would be celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, he added.
However, according to the Kargil-based Islamiah School, the new moon was sighted at Trespon in the border district at 1430 hrs.
As a result, members of the Shia community will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr across the Kargil district tomorrow. However, the Sunni community would celebrate the Eid on Sunday.
