Efforts on to get duty exemption on Indian 'Tuna' in EU

Visakhapatnam, Oct 12 (UNI) The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) will take steps to get exemption of customs duty on import of 'Tuna' fish, imposed by member countries of European Union (EU).

After flagging of 22 converted tuna long-line fishing vessels at the Fishing Harbour here, MPEDA Chairman G Mohan Kumar said the EU was imposing an customs duty of 14.5 per cent on India Tuna, while other Asian countries like Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand were exempted from such measures.

He said the customs duty was impeding India's prospects in the international market.
