Change in strategy needed to curb terror: PM

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Issuing a stern warning to terrorist elements, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called for a change in the strategy to root out terrorism.

''We have to think and think differently to deal with terrorism in future,'' Dr Singh said in an interaction with journalists at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit here.

He said the government was steadfast in its resolve to meet the challenge from the menace. ''Let there be no mistake over our resolve to meet the challenge head-on.'' The government was faced with a difficult situation, but there was no need for despair.

''We have to mobilise our resources and will power to defeat the terrorists. There is no lack of firmness, but terrorists have the advantage of surprise...It is not possible to protect every soft target. We have to think and think differently to deal with terrorism in future.'' He was replying to a question on repeated bomb blasts in various parts of the country including yesterday's killings at Ajmer Sharif.
