Central aid sought for fishers during ban
Visakhapatnam, Oct 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Minister M Budda Prasad said the government has submitted a proposal to the Centre for financial support to fishermen during a ban on fishing.
Speaking after inaugurating the '60 years celebrations of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute' function(CMFRI) at the Regional Centre here, he said more than 2.5 lakh fishermen would be the prospective beneficiaries, if the scheme was sanctioned. He said the State Government had earned Rs 2,200 crore through the export of marine products last year The CMFRI Scientist-in-Charge G Syda Rao said the Institute would initiate cage culture of Asian sea base in the city and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.
