Abducted child rescued in Mathura, 2 held

Lucknow, Oct 12 (UNI) The Special Operation Group of the district police rescued a four-year-old boy from the clutches of his abductors in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh early today.

Gopal -- son of Hari Shankar -- was kidnapped by masked men on July 26, while he was sleeping outside his house in the Highway police station area. Later, Rs 10 lakh were demanded as ransom.

Acting on a tip-off, cops cordoned off the Bharatpur road near Govardhan village and arrested Mukut Singh and his aide.

Three of their accomplices, however, managed to escape.

On the basis of the information provided by the duo, police rescued Gopal.

Meanwhile. a reward of Rs 2,500 was announced for the SOG team for accomplishing the rescue task.
