3 killed, 22 hurt as bus hits parked lorry

Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Oct 12 (UNI) Three people were killed and 22 hurt, six of them seriously, when a tourist bus hit a stationary lorry near Ambur of this district late last night.

Police here today said the bus carrying 60 passengers was proceeding to Tirupati from Ponnagaram in Dharmapuri District when the driver, who was speaking on his mobile, hit the lorry parked on the roadside.

While Kandan died on the spot, Ajith Kumar and Chitra, who sustained serious injuries, breathed their last in hospital.

Six others who sustained serious injuries were undergoing treatment at the Ambur Government Hospital.

All other passengers were discharged after being administered first aid, police said.
