Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Project

Chandigarh, Oct 11 (UNI) Haryana Chief Secretary Promilla Issar today said the development of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Project and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor had been approved in principle by the Centre.

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor would pass through seven states--Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi, she said while talking to reporters here today.

She said this 1,400 km long Corridor would cover 92 km of area in Haryana. A total of 60 per cent area falling in National Capital Region of Haryana would be covered by this Corridor.

Ms Issar said the Master Plan for this ambitious project would be prepared soon as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister had recently convened a meeting of all the Chief Secretaries of the concerned states at New Delhi to deliberate on the various aspects of this project.

She said this Corridor would run from Delhi to JN Port via Rewari in Haryana. Approach roads/ rail links would be onstructed to connect this Corridor with the industrial hubs of these areas.

Ms Issar said that there was a proposal to set up industrial hubs along this Corridor. She said this project would usher in a new era of industrial development in the state besides immensely benefiting the existing industries.
