TN cancels UMPP in Cheyyur due to high land price
Chennai, Oct 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has decided to drop its proposal to establish an Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Cheyyur due to high land price.
Electrcitiy Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, who took stock of the progress in implementation of UMPP in the state, decided against setting up of the project in Cheyyur as the land price ranged from Rs 35 to Rs 40 lakhs, an official release said here today.
The minister, along with senior officials, discussed about the setting up of captive ports, establishment of merchant power projects and mega power projects in the state, the release said.
