Sreeraman's body cremated at residential compound with State honors

Thrissur, Oct 11 (UNI) The body of noted writer and Vice-President of Kerala Sahitya Academy C V Sreeraman was cremated with full State honors in his residential compound at Porkulam in Kunnamkulam in the district this evening.

Sreeraman (75) died at a private hospital here yesterday following a liver ailment.

His elder son Sanjay lit the funeral pyre. A large number of people, including Kerala Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan, Education Minister M A Baby, MLAs and writers were present at the funeral.

Earlier, hundreds of people paid their tributes when the body was placed at Kunnamkulam before being taken to his residence for cremation.

A 'hartal' was observed in Porkulam grama panchayat as a mark of respect to the departed. Sreeraman was the Panchayat President for the past 15 years.
