Ramadoss orders probe into AIIMS negligence case

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The Health Ministry has ordered a probe into the alleged medical negligence case against suspended AIIMS doctor A K Bisoi, who reportedly left a screw in the heart of a patient who subsequently died.

Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss formed a four-member committee headed by Head of Department of the Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery in AIIMS Sampath Kumar, to probe into the matter. The committee will submit its report within 10 days. Other members of the Committee include Dr R C Deka, AIIMS Dean (Academics), Medical Superintendent Dr D K Sharma and Head of Department of Cardiology in RML Dr Vijay Gupta.

Dr Bisoi was suspended last night till pending enquiry into the matter.

The patient, Gokul Prasad was admitted to the hospital on July 28 and was operated upon on August 17 for a bypass surgery. During surgery, a small screw from the retractor, an instrument used in the operation, was left inside the patient's heart. It was removed on August 20.

Prasad was rushed to the hospital on September eight after he complained of severe allergic reaction and passed away on September 20.
