MP CM reviews Lokayukta, EOW cases

Bhopal, Oct 11 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today directed officials to approve, within a fortnight, prosecution in pending cases concerning corruption and other irregularities in various departments, official sources said.

Mr Chouhan reviewed pending cases of the Lokayukta and state Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at Mantralaya. He directed that clarification be sought from officials of departments where approval for cases was long pending. Principal Secretary (Law) A N Gupta, PS (General Administration) I M Chahal and Chief Minister's Secretary Iqbal Bais were among those present.

''Prosecution was ayed in 23 Lokayukta cases and eight EOW cases this year,'' said Mr Gupta. In the Law Department, one Lokayukta case and nine EOW cases were pending approval for prosecution. The Department approved prosecution in 52 Lokayukta cases last year.
