Chennai, Oct 11 (UNI) A CPI(M) Member of Parliament from Kerala created a flutter when his lone hand baggage was subjected to screening by the authorities at Anna international airport here today.

Airport sources said Manoj Kumar boarded the Sharjah Kochi-Coimbatore-Chennai flight from Kochi and landed here at around 0550 hrs.

When he passed through the security area, the CISF personnel asked for his baggage for screening. He insisted that he was a Member of Parliament and took exception to it.

The authorities did not buy his argument that he travelled only on domestic route from Kochi to Chennai.

The CISF personnel said since he had travelled on an international flight, the baggage must be screened as per the rules and scanned it.

A visibly upset Manoj Kumar shouted at the CISF authorities saying he would raise the issue in Parliament and left the place without his baggage.

Sensing trouble, the CISF authorities went up to his car, apologised and handed over the baggage to him, the sources added.
