The theme of Asia Academic Forum 2007 is 'Accelerating Innovation and Research on Emerging Technologies'.

With the influx of newer technologies, it was critical to bring technology expertise to university campuses, provide student opportunities, and encourage innovation among engineers and scientists, the release said.

To discuss many such issues, Asia Academic Forum aimed to provide a platform for sharing of ideas on the common research areas for collaboration between academic world and industry.

The forum would be attended by over 100 selected faculty from China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam.

An exciting feature of this year's forum agenda would be a series of sessions which would showcase research and development work undertaken by the academia on research and curriculum.

These university professors would be presenting ground breaking concepts in the form of posters developed in the area of Software for Multi-Core, Emerging technologies, technology and manufacturing.

The forum would deliberate on challenges faced by emerging markets in the areas of broadband and adoption of IT in rural areas and also showcase ingenious projects developed by social entrepreneurs which can have impact at the grass root level.
