Industrialist arrested in assault case released on bail

Shimla, Oct 11 (UNI) Industrialist DC Anand, chairman of the Anand group of industries, accused of physically assaulting his sister was arrested and later released on bail.

''Anand was arrested at Parwanoo late last night and his statement recorded and was released after furnishing a bond of Rs 5,000,'' police sources said.

The sources said that the industrialist has denied his involvement in the assault case before the investigating officer.

Anand was on the run after his 70-year old younger sister Urmila Sawhney lodged a complaint against him having assaulted her last week.

The police had got her medical examined and had registered a case against Anand under Sections 341, 323, 506, 34 of IPC.

Property dispute between DC Anand and his youngest brother Satish Anand is said to be the cause for the incident.

Meanwhile, fearing for her life, Urmila has decided to approach the National Women's Cell and Senior Citizens Forum for protection, she said in a press release here.
