Governor cancels tribal welfare review meet

Gandhinagar, Oct 11 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma has cancelled the Tribal Welfare Review meeting scheduled to be held on October 15 at Raj Bhavan due to model code of conduct in view of the announcement of Gujarat assembly elections.

Earlier, the Governor had called a meeting on October 5 to discuss the tribal welfare but the same was later postponed following the intervention of BJP tribal MLA Ramilaben Bara.

She argued that since senior BJP tribal MPs Kanjibhai Patel and Mansukh Vasava were not invited to the meeting, it was not fair on the part of Raj Bhavan to discuss the issues concerning the tribal community in their absence hence demanded that the meet be postponed to another date.

The Governor had then postponed the meeting to October 15 to pave way for the tribal MPs to attend the review meeting.
