DD's consulting editor Virendra Kumar to receive Kanchana award

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Mr Virendra Kumar, consulting Editor, News and Current Affairs division of Doordarshan, will be awarded this year's Kanchana memorial award for working with ''utmost honesty and commitment''.

The award had been instituted in the memory of late journalist Kanchana who was killed in an accident near Pragati Maidan in September 2003.

Mr Kumar would receive the award at a function on Sunday.

A lecture on ''Responsibility of Indian Media'' would also be given on the occasion. Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav, Dainik Bhaskar's Group Editor Shravan Garg and Ms Radha Bhatta, noted Gandhian, will take part in it.
