Guwahati, Oct 11 (UNI) BJP national spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy today asserted that the present political scenario in the country only predicted formation of a BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the party was geared up for snap polls.
Addressing reporters here after discussing the poll preparedness of Assam BJP for a possible mid-term Lok Sabha election, Mr Rudy said, ''We expect the Lok Sabha polls anytime and are completely prepared for it.'' Criticizing the Congress-led UPA government in New Delhi as 'rudderless' and 'directionless', he took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said, '' The Prime Minister is a helpless soul and it is possibly for the first time in 60 years that the PMO was being remote-controlled.'' The BJP leader reiterated that sooner the UPA government is removed from power, the better it is for Indian democracy and its growth.
He maintained that the party was in a strong position in Assam and he would submit a detailed report to the party national president.
To a query on possible tie up with regional parties in Assam, Mr Rudy said, '' We are now concentrating on strengthening our party base and will discuss those later.'' The BJP leader also criticized the progress of infrastructure developmental work in North East and said the Central and state governments have failed to expedite the processes set in motion by the NDA government.
Eluding to the Nuclear deal with the USA, which has brought about the current crisis in the government, the former Union minister said, ''The BJP is against any deal which will compromise with the military independence of the country.'' He also criticized the Union government's controversial affidavit on the Ram Sethu project and said the remarks by the government questioning the very existence of Lord Rama has undermined the secular credentials of the country.
He said, '' The Union government had not only hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus across the globe but also put under scanner all the religions in the world.
