APJ Surrendra Group to set up biggest Shipyard in Orissa

Bhubaneswar,Oct 11 (UNI) The APJ Surrendra Group has evinced keen interest to set up Asia's biggest Shipyard at Dhamra coast in Orissa with an investment of Rs 2200 crores to make it operational by the end of 2010.

A high level delegation of the APJ Surrendra Group today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Industry Minister B B Harichandan and presented their case to set up the shipyard in Dhamra where a major port is coming up in joint venture by the Tata group.

Industry Minister B B Harichandan said the company has sought 1,050 acres of land to establish the Shipyard near Dhamra and the state government has asked the Commerce, Transport and Industry departments to work on the project and the company has been asked to submit a Detailed Project Report(DPR).

Mr Harichandan said after the company submitted its report, the matter would be referred to the High power single window committee of the state government for approval and finally if feasible a MoU will be signed with the company, he added.
