APCC urges Centre to fix MSP for paddy on par with wheat

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (UNI)The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today urged the Union Government to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) to paddy on a par with wheat for the benefit of lakhs of farmers.

Addressing a press conference here, Party Spokesperson N Tulasi Reddy, while welcoming the announcement of MSP for foodgrains, pulses and oilseeds, urged the government to announce MSP for paddy on par with wheat as it was genuine demand of the farmers.

He said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had already written to the Centre.

Dr Reddy would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and ministers concerned on the issue.
