Swamy wants to fix India as Nuclear weapon state in Nuke deal

Madurai, Oct 10 (UNI) Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today urged the Centre to incorporate specific clauses in the Indo-US Nuclear Deal to declare the country as a nuclear weapon state to protect its sovereignty in the face of a threat to its security.

In a release here, Dr Swamy said a resolution to this effect was adopted at the party's executive meeting yesterday.

A resolution on the Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project said the project would not be economically viable and profit-making as claimed.

The SSCP was being implemented on a fast-track basis, without taking various aspects such as fishermen's livelihood, fish population and environmental factors into consideration, it added.
