Soldier among two killed, arms haul in J&K

Srinagar, Oct 10 (UNI) A soldier was among two people killed while two more jawans were wounded as security forces seized a huge haul of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

He said the soldier, wounded in a fierce encounter at Rajwar in Kupwara district yesterday, succumbed at hospital today.

Militants entered the house of Makhanu at Bathian village in Rajouri district last evening and shot him dead.

Militants hurled a hand grenade towards a police post at Sujan in Doda district of Jammu region last night. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside without causing any damage, the spokesman added.

Militants fired upon the patrol party of 14 Rashtriya Rifles in the forest area of Arin Balhama in Bandipora. The fire was returned and in the ensuing encounter, two soldiers were wounded.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel seized ten kg of explosive powder at Gandoh in Doda district.
