Punjab Cabinet gives nod to thermal plant at Banwala village

Chandigarh, Oct 10 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today approved the setting up of 1800 MW Talwandi Sabo Thermal Power Plant at Banwala in Mansa district.

The Cabinet met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

The Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has established a wholly owned company, 'Talwandi Sabo Power Limited', a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to complete all processes for bidding of this project. The Board has also initiated the process for international competitive tariff based bidding to set up the project on Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis.

The PSEB has engaged Power Finance Corporation as its consultant to help and facilitate the Board in successful completion of the bidding process.
