Pramod Mahajan murder case: Special public prosecutor apologises

Mumbai, Oct 10 (UNI) Special public prosecutor Nitin Pradhan, appearing in the Pramod Mahajan murder case, tendered an apology before the court for failing to appear and failing to produce witnesses today.

Advocate Pradhan presented himself before additional sessions judge S P Davare at the fag end of the day and apologised for failing to appear and for failing to produce witnesses today.

The special public prosecutor assured that from tomorrow onwards, two to three witnesses will be produced for examination and he will ensure that court proceedings are not hampered.

Earlier in the day, Adv Pradhan's junior had moved an application seeking an adjournment as the witness was unwell. The judge rejected the application and directed that another witness be produced in the afternoon. However, even during the afternoon session, the prosecution failed to produce witnesses following which the court adjourned the matter till 1700 hours to pass an appropriate order.

Judge Davare reminded the special public prosecutor that the case has to be conducted on a day-to-day basis and has to be completed within two months.
