IT searches at chemical units in Maharashtra, Gujarat

Mumbai, Oct 10 (UNI) Income Tax officials today conducted search operations at 30-odd chemical manufacturing uits across Maharashtra and Gujarat allegedly in connection with large scale tax evasion.

According to a highly placed official source, the search operations have been conducted across Mumbai, Thane in Maharashtra and Vapi, Ankleshwar, Vadodra and some other places in Gujarat.

''The search operations, which began this morning are still on,'' the official said.

Some 200 Income Tax officials including 80 officers are part of the search teams.
