Doctor couple held for son's death due to blind faith

Rohtak, Oct 10 (UNI) Police today nabbed a doctor couple here for causing the death of their younger son allegedly due to blind faith in a 'Tantrik'.

SSP Haneef Qureshi told reporters at a press conference here that Dr Promila Malik tried to inter-change the blood of her younger ''intelligent'' son Piyush with elder Abhishek who was not able to live upto their dreams of becoming a doctor as he had failed the pre-medical entrance test (PMT).

In the process allegdly advised to Dr Promila by a ''Tantrik Guru'' in a dream, Piyush lost his life. Abhishek however, told police that Piyush was killed by armed assailants who had also injured him and his mother.

Dr Ashok Malik, who was aware of his wife's plans, was in Delhi at the time of incident the SSP said.

He said a 'Havan' was performed by the Maliks before the misadventure and a blood soaked syringe was found on the spot.

The police, finding loopholes in Abhishek's version, unearthed the ''truth'' on sustained interrogation and arrested the doctor couple, the SSP said.
