Ahmedabad, Oct 10 (UNI) Gujarat BJP today denied the allegations made by the opposition Congress and rebel BJP members on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

State BJP general secretary Vijay Roopani refused the allegations and said in fact, the crime rate was higher during the regimes of Congress and former BJP chief minister Keshubhai Patel, who is now running dissident activities banking on the support of his powerful Patel community.

He said the allegations levelled by both were false and far from the truth. In reality, during the Congress and Mr Patel's regimes, total 335,000 and 346,000 crimes were recorded respectively, as compared to 318,000 during Modi's tenure.

He said such allegations were levelled to mislead the people of Gujarat for political gains.

The figures speak and prove for themselves that the crime rate has gone down in Mr Modi's tenure, the BJP leader claimed.
