Nahan, Oct 9 (UNI) A women group has called upon the Himachal Pradesh Government to reserve 33 per cent seats in the state transport corporation buses since they continue to travel long distances while standing.

Janwadi Mahila Samiti (JMS) state secretary Santosh Kapoor said women all over the state continued to travel long distances in HRTC buses due to lack of implementation of the government notification of 33 per cent seat reservationfor women in buses.

The HRTC officers and employees were in no mood to implement the decision of the government, which should take stern steps to ensure that its order was followed in letter and spirit, she said in a release here.

Ms Kapoor urged Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to take stern action against HRTC officers who do not comply with its directives.

She threatened to launch a state-wide agitation if the government did not ensure the implementation of its notification within the next fortnight.
