New Delhi, Oct 9: The Supreme Court today granted two-week time to the Orissa government to respond to the allegations of the Rajasthan government that because of the non-cooperation of the state chief secretary and the DGP, suspended Orissa DGP (Home Guards) B B Mohanty could not be arrested.

Mohanty's son Bitihotra Mohanty had jumped parole in a rape case as he was serving 10 years imprisonment for committing rape on a German tourist in Alwar.

B B Mohanty, who gave the surety for his son, did not help the Rajasthan police in getting his son re-arrested.

A bench comprising Justices C K Thakkur and Dalveer Bhandari granted the time to the Orissa government after the state counsel submitted before the court that they were served with the copy of the Rajasthan government affidavit only two-three days ago and they needed time to respond to the allegations made in the affidavit.
