Raghuvansh calls early implementation of NREGA

Guwahati, Oct 9 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today reviewed the progress and implementation of various schemes under his ministry in the Northeast.

He told the attending ministers, representing their respective states, the Centre had given highest priority to the development of Northeast adding that funds would not be a problem.

Under the National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (NREGA), the minister urged upon all states to ensure that all eligible rural families were provided with 100 days of employment.

Mr Singh told the ministers to take up necessary advance preparation for launching the NREGA in all the remaining districts of Northeast from April 1, 2008 as the Centre has already notified expansion of NREGA in all the states with effect from the next financial year.
