Over 29 lakh tonne paddy procured by Govt agencies

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Paddy procurement in the current kharif marketing season has reached 29.43 lakh tonnes (LT) today.

Different agencies have procured 23.86 LT paddy in Punjab, 5.5 LT in Haryana, 5,892 tonnes in Kerala and 1,397 tonnes in Chandigarh.

Agencies have also procured 75,141 tonne coarse cereals in Haryana.

Department of Food and Public Distribution informed that 33.35 LT paddy has arrived in various markets so far this year.
