Kolkata, Oct 9 (UNI) Criticising the police administration's role in the Rizwanur Rahman case, ruling Left Front ally Forward Bloc's student wing - All India Yuva League (AIYL)- today alleged that ''Jungle Raj'' was prevailing in West Bengal.

Talking to newspersons here, state AIYL general secretary Anirban Chowdhury said, '' A section of the police administration had become brokers of the upper classes and was showing high-handed attitude to the weaker sections in the state and were trying to mislead the people in this case. '' '' How the Commissioner of Police (CP) Prasun Mukherjee can claim that Rizwanur's death was a suicide even before receiving the post-mortem report, '' he stated.

He demanded that the CP and two IPS officers Gyanwant Singh and Ajay Kumar should immediately tender their resignations.

'' We have no faith in the CID or judicial inquiries because the CID had declared that Tapashi Malik of Singur had committed suicide, while 32 judicial inquiries have been held earlier in the state but none had been arrested so far, '' he added.

He claimed that the real fact behind Rizwanur's death would be exposed by CBI inquiry.

He said the AIYL would organise massive agitations against police if their demands were not met immediately, adding they would also expose those who were trying to safeguard the culprits responsible for Rizwanur's death.

'' We have written a letter today to the Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee seeking his appointment to discuss our demands, '' he said.

Meanwhile, in a statement here, Forward Bloc general secretary Ashok Ghosh appealed to the people to maintain peace and calm.
