Jain woman performs her own 'shradh'

Junagadh, Oct 9 (UNI) In a rare case of spiritual symbolism, a 80-year-old Jain woman performed her own 'shradh' here.

Vijayaben Lathibhai Parekh, a Deravasi Jain, after performing the 'shradh' said she was satisfied with what she had done and was not bothered if her only son Ashwinbhai performs 'shradh' for her after she passes away.

''It is left to him to perform or not to perform shradh,'' she said.

During the unique ''shradh for the living'', Vijayaben also fed people in the true spirit of the ritual, which is performed to please one's forefathers.
