Govt takes up illumination programme of Mysore Palace in Dasara

Mysore, Oct 9 (UNI) The state government has made special illumination arrangements for the famous Mysore Palace during the ten day Dasara festivities commencing here from October 12.

More than 96,000 bulbs would light up the structure during the festivities besides the special illumination to the city's important circles and roads in and around the palace.

Palace Board sources told UNI that the authorities have restricted the entry to the public on these days as the members of the royal family would be celebrating the Dasara festival in private.

Meanwhile, the Chamundi Electricity Supply Corporation has made special arrangements for the illumination of the Chamundi Hills with extra special effective lights.

Both the state and central government buildings would also be illuminated during the festival.

The illumination timings at another famous Brindavan gardens at Krishnarajasagara reservoir, near here would also increased during the festivities period with an additional one hour during all days.

The state tourism department has also taken up another attractive event of famous Mysore ride in the city for the tourists. The traditional tonga ride was famous earlier days and the department has made special arrangements to visit the tourist spots in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Channappagowda said that the district administration would provide green uniforms and durbar petas as a traditional dress to the tonga drivers and identity cards would also be provided to them during the ten day festivities.
