DRDO showcases indigenous weapons systems

Kochi Oct 9 (UNI) Models of indigenously developed weapons systems, including the Agni, Prithvi and Nag missiles, battle tanks and other combat vehicles, radars and sonars have been displayed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at an exhibition here.

The week-long exhibition, which started today, has been organised by the Swadesi Science Movement, an autonomous body committed to self reliance in technology, as part of the 'National Self Reliance Week Celebrations'.

The DRDO stall has been organised by the Kochi unit of the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), a unit of DRDO.

The sprawling DRDO stall, spread over 120 square meters, displays the strides made by the country in the frontier areas of avionics, aeronautics, armament, combat vehicles and engineering, electronics, communication and computer systems, misslies, naval systems, materials and life sciences for defence services.

The stall also displays the DRDO's achievements in bio-technology and food technology.

Audio-visual presentations and pamphlets have been used for better information dissemination.

Eight DRDO scientists will be available throughout the exhibition to answer queries, especially from school and college students, an NPOL release said.
