CCEA announces measures to enhance procurement of paddy

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) The CCEA today announced steps to enhance procurement of paddy and rice in Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) of 2007-08, including an incentive bonus of Rs.50 to 100 per quintal.

This bonus will be in addition to the announced MSP of Rs.645 per quintal and Rs.675 per quintal in respect of Common and Grade 'A' varieties of paddy respectively.

"This incentive bonus will be made applicable during the entire procurement period in KMS 2007-08," Finance Minister P Chidambaram said here.

"The benefit of grant of incentive bonus on paddy in addition to MSP for KMS 2007-08 will encourage farmers to grow more paddy and also contribute more for the procurement for Central Pool, " Mr Chidambaram said.
