17 Indian Cos in Forbes List under USD 1 bn

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) Seventeen Indian companies have been listed in the Forbes List of Asian Companies under 1 billion US Dollar in sales.

The companies include Dabur India, Pantaloon Retail, Cipla Healthcare and Asian Paints among others, which made an assessment on the basis of performance in sales and profit growth over the past three years.

The latest Forbes 'Asia's 200 Best under a Billion' list included companies from 14 countries from Asia and the Pacific region. Besides India, the list covered China, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and New Zealand.

The other Indian companies in the list for 2007 included Bharat Bijlee, Divis Laboratories, Elder Pharmaceuticals, Era Infrastructure&Engineering, ICSA, Infotech Enterprises, IPCA Laboratories, NIIT Technologies, NRB Bearings, Nucleus Software, Patni Computer Systems, Praj Industries and Thermax.

It was also observed that about 80 per cent of the companies on the 2007 list made their first appearance on the basis of their performance, in spite of constant changes within the business environment.

However, the number of companies got place in this year's list was lesser than the last year. The last year's list included 23 Indian companies.

The outgoing companies include Bajaj Hindustan, Balrampur Chinni Mills, Bharat Forge, Sesa Goa and Cadila Healthcare.
