Thiruvanmiyur-Velachery MRTS service likely from month-end

Chennai, Oct 8 (UNI) The Railway Ministry is ready to operate Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) services between Thiruvanmiyur and Velachery by the month-end, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said today.

''We have asked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to participate in the function. Once he gives his assent, we will start the MRTS service,'' he told newspersons on the sidelines of a function.

The Minister said the ground work had been started for constructing railway subways in six places, including Korukkupet, Stanley Hospital and Villivakkam.
