Bhopal, Oct 8 (UNI) Bhartiya Jan Shakti chief Uma Bharti has appealed the IAS officers of Madhya Pradesh ''not to succumb to political pressure''.

''I am writing this letter with anguish as I have seen Uttar Pradesh and Bihar's IAS officers, who were working under political pressure leading the states to backwardness, deteriorating law and order and mockery of democracy,'' said Ms Bharti in a letter written to Madhya Pradesh IAS Officers Association's newly-elected President Dilip Mehra.

This letter was released coinciding with two-day collectors' conference convened by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from today.

''Three IAS officers played suspicious role in the by-elections in the state as they were appointed in districts concerned just on the eve of polls,'' alleged former Chief Minister.

She alleged that recently an IAS officer, under the government's pressure, had given possession of a land belonging to a Dalit to some BJP leaders through fradulent means.

''This is a serious matter and I hope that Mr Mehra will take appropriate action in this regard,'' Ms Bharti added in the letter.
