Kerala to set up coastal, community police stations

Kozhikode, Oct 8 (UNI) The Kerala government is planning to establish eight coastal and 14 community police stations at various parts of the state, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan said today.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Balakrishan said the first coastal station would come up at Neendakara and another one at Beypore in Kozhikode district to ensure strict maintenance of law and order, along the coastal areas.

Stating that the women candidates would also be considered for direct appointment as sub inspectors in the force, he said and added that the government was also taking urgent measures to fill up existing vacancies in the armed police battalions in the state.
