India extends Rs one crore assistance to Uganda for flood hit
New Delhi, Oct 08 (UNI) India has announced an emeregency assistance of Rs one crore to Uganda for flood relief, a spokesman of the External Affairs Ministry said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has written a letter to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni conveying condolences on the loss of life and property due to unprecedented floods in that country.
''As a token of India's solidarity with the Government and people of Uganda, the Prime Minister has also announced an emergency assistance of Rs. one crore,'' the spokesman said.
The amount can be used to provide relief supplies from India or for local procurement.
