Group B stir leaves fellow employees in trouble

Aizawl, Oct 8: Government employees, particularly those of lower grades who heavily depend on their monthly salaries, have been left in big troubles for they could not draw their salaries, thanks to the Group B employees' agitation which continued today.

"Those of us who solely depend on our monthly salaries are in trouble when we don't get paid in time. All the bills are lying unpaid. I have just asked my landlord to lend me money," said Tluanga, a group C employee.

After a meeting with Personal and Administrative Reforms minister Tawnluia on Saturday failed to bring a clear-cut decision, the agitating Group B employees decided to continue the agitation today even as their fellow employees keep urging them to give them at least a time for drawing their salaries.

"If we call off our agitation, it would let the government to dilly-dally on our demands. On the other hand, we also regret the inconveniences caused to our fellow employees," a Group B employees' coordination committee leader said.

He, however, hinted that they would opt for an indefinite strike unless positive action is seen from the government.
