Digvijay opposes closure of Bajaj plant

Bhopal, Oct 8 (UNI) Condemning the arrest of workers protesting closure of Chhindwara-located Bajaj Super Pack factory, Congress leader Digvijay Singh has urged the Madhya Pradesh government to protect the interests of workers.

Expressing displeasure over police action on workers who took out a rally yesterday under the leadership of former MLA Ajay Choure, the AICC General Secretary supported their demands and urged the BJP government to ensure that the factory was not closed or in unavoidable circumstances leading to closure the interests of workers should be ensured. The agitating workers were jailed.

In a statement here today, Mr Singh requested Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to hold talks with workers to take steps for providing them alternate employment and to ensure proper compensation.
