Ajmer, Oct 8 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party in Rajasthan has expressed the hope that talks between Gujjar leaders and the government to find a solution to the Gujjars' agitation for Scheduled Tribes status would be successful.

BJP state General Secretary Rampal Jat--who held talks with Gujjar Arakshan sangarsh Samiti convenor Kirori Singh Bainsala in Ajmer jail as an emissory of the state government-- said the talks were progressing well and expressed the hope of an early resolution to the five-day-old agitation by the Gujjars.

To a poser why rebel BJP MLA and Gujjar leader Prahlad Gungal had been kept out of the negotiation, Mr Jat said the government considered Col Bainsala as the supreme leader of the Gujjars.

''The government at the behest of Col Bainsala has shifted to Ajmer all the Gujjar leaders who are required for consultations,'' he said.

Col Bainsala also appealed to the Gujjars to continue their stir in a peaceful manner until their demands were met, Mr Jat added.
