17 killed, 25 injured in bus accident near Mokokchung

Kohima Oct 08 (UNI) At least 17 people were killed and 25 injured when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the National Highway 61 and fell into a deep gorge at around 1130 hours.

The bus, belonging to Tuli Lenden Arogo (TLA), a Church under Mokokchung district, was proceeding from Mokokchung to Tuli with 42 passengers. On reaching Angetyongpong, near the Impur junction, the bus suddenly skidded and fell into a deep gorge of more than three hundred feet, killing thirteen people on the spot.

Some of the injured were rushed to Mokokchung civil hospital where the condition of many was stated to be critical. Later four of the injured succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
