Voting begins in 156 grampanchayat election

Nashik, Oct 7 (UNI) Voting began for 156 Grampanchayat election in this district at 0730 hrs today.

Of 200 grampanchayats, at 55 places election were held unopposed.

Today, the elecion is being held in 144 places whereas by election is being held in 12 grampanchayats.

Citizens of Bhabade village in Baglan taluka have boycotted the election, not a single candidature form has been submitted so election will held later.

There are around 144 polling booths. Police have kept strict vigil for the election. The security staff includes 7 Dy SPs, 12 PIs, 45 PSIs, 700 police personnel, which include 66 women police personnel.

There are 490 homeguards, one company of State Reserve Police (SRP) has also been deployed to monitor the situation.

The voting will continue till 1730 hrs. The counting will take place on October 9.
